Meeting Venue The Conference will be held in the Oxford Conference Center 102 Ed Perry Blvd., Oxford, MS 38655. The Technical Conference will open with registration at 7:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 3, in the Conference Center Lobby. The opening session for the Technical Conference is set for 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Center Auditorium. The Technical Conference will conclude at 12:00 noon, Friday, September 5, 2008. A banquet will be held Wedesday evening at 6:30 p.m. On Friday afternoon, September 5, there will be a tour of the Goodwin Creek Watershed. Anyone wishing to go on this tour should e-mail Myra Shaw, Myra.Shaw@ars.usda.gov. A Commemoration Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, September 2, at 1:30 p.m. at the National Sedimentation Laboratorym 598 McElroy Drive, Oxford, MS 38655. Persons who plan to fly to the conference should book their flights to and from the Memphis (Tennessee) International Airport. The Memphis International Airport is approximately 75 miles (or 1 hour and 15 minutes drive) from Oxford. Rental cars are available in the Memphis terminal. The University will provide a shuttle service for conference participants who arrive at the Memphis International Airport. The cost of the shuttle is $135 round trip or $85 one way. Shuttle reservations must be made and paid for in advance. See the Registration section for information on making shuttle reservations. Weather The weather in Oxford, Mississippi during the fall is usually warm to hot and more dry than wet. During this season, we can experience some cool nights. Rain is usually in the forecast during these warm days and cool nights.
