Meeting Place
Due to the overwhelming response and interest in The National Sedimentation
Laboratory's Technical Conference, the venue has been moved to the Oxford
Conference Center, 102 Ed Perry Blvd., Oxford, MS 38655.
Conference Hotels
Downtown Oxford Inn & Suites
This hotel is located in beautiful downtown Oxford, MS,
and is within walking distance to the nationally renown Oxford Historical
Square District. There are many shops and restaurants
located in this section of the city. The hotel serves a deluxe continental
breakfast buffet from 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m., daily. Hotel reservations
may be made by phone (662)234-3031 or you may make them
online. When making your reservations, please advise them that you should
have the special rate for "The NSL
Anniversary Block."
Deadline to make your hotel resevations at the guaranteed government rate
is August 12, 2008. Reservations made after this date
are subject to a higher rate.
To get to the meeting place from the Downtown Inn and Suites
hotel: if exiting the hotel onto North Lamar, turn LEFT onto North Lamar
and then turn LEFT onto Jefferson Ave (at the light). If exiting the Hotel
onto Jefferson Ave., turn LEFT onto Jefferson Ave. Travel down Jefferson
Ave. You will go through a 3-way stop at St. Peter's Cemetary and continue
down Jefferson until you reach the stoplight at Bramlett and Jefferson
(end of the street). At the bottom of the hill turn LEFT onto Bramlett
Blvd. Continue on Bramlett Blvd until you reach a 4-way stop at Sisk Avenue.
Turn RIGHT onto Sisk Avenue, go under the overpass. The next road to your
right after the highways' off ramp, is Ed Perry Blvd. The Oxford Conference
Center will be on your Right.
The other conference hotel is 3-5 miles from the conference
meeting place at the Inn
at Ole Miss. When making your reservations, please advise them that
you should have the special rate for "The

To get to the Oxford Conference Center from the Inn at Ole
Miss, turn LEFT on to Grove Loop when exiting the Inn at Ole Miss' parking
lot. Turn LEFT onto University Avenue at the 4-way stop.
Take University Avenue all the way down to Highway 7 (through 6 stoplights).
You will go under the over pass and turn left onto 7 following the signs
for Holly Springs. You will then take the next exit, SISK Avenue turning
RIGHT onto Sisk Avenue. The next road on the right will the Ed Perry Blvd.
Turn RIGHT onto Ed Perry Blvd. The Oxford Conference Center will be on
the RIGHT.
There will be a shuttle service provided for those staying
in the above mentioned hotels to and from the Oxford Convention Center
and to and from the Oxford University Club. Please refer to the Shuttle
Information located in the registration packet.
How to Get to Oxford
By Air
Persons who plan to fly to the conference should book their flights to
and from the Memphis, Tennessee, International Airport (MEM). The Memphis
International Airport is approximately 75 miles (or 1 hour and 15 minutes
drive) from Oxford. Rental cars are available in the Memphis terminal.
The University will provide a shuttle service for conference participants
who arrive at the Memphis International Airport. The cost of the shuttle
is $135 round trip or $85 one way. Shuttle
reservations must be made and paid for in advance. See the Registration
section for information on making shuttle reservations.
By Car
From Memphis, Tennessee: Take I-55 South to Exit 243A
(Oxford; The University of Mississippi exit). This is Hwy 6/278 E. Travel
on this road for approximately 22 miles to Oxford, MS.
From the West -- You will know that you are entering Oxford when you begin
passing a large Shell/Convenience Store (with a Baskin & Robbins in
it) and the Nissan, Belk Ford/Toyota car lots.
Driving Directions to the Downtown Oxford Inn and

- From the Memphis AIRPORT:
- Leave the airport going WEST on Airline Drive- go about 15-20 minutes
Come to I-55 SOUTH (JACKSON/GRENADA) – about 45 minute drive
- Take the second exit in Batesville- University of Mississippi/Oxford
MS-6 EAST
- Drive 22 miles to Oxford
- Take the 4th Exit: Downtown Oxford/H/Lamar Blvd
- Turn NORTH or LEFT
- Follow North Lamar to the square
- Continue North through the square

Driving Directions to the Inn at Ole Miss located on
the beautiful University of Mississippi Campus
From Jackson, MS (South) to The Inn
- Take I-55 North to the town of Batesville.
- You will take the Hwy 6 East exit (also listed as the University
of Mississippi Exit).
- Continue on Hwy 6 East for approx. 25 miles until you come into Oxford.
- Take the third Oxford exit listed as Old Taylor Road and the University
of Mississippi exit.
- At the top of the exit ramp, turn left onto Old Taylor Road.
- Travel through the roundabout counter clockwise from the 6 o'clock
to the 12 o'clock position.
- You will pass the Ole Miss baseball field and Department of Music,
before you come to a three-way stop. There you will take a left onto
University Avenue.
Cross the bridge and take a right at the 4-way stop onto Grove Loop.
After you take that right, there are two buildings on your right. The
second building is the Triplett Alumni Center, and the hotel is located
directly behind that building.
- Turn right onto Alumni Drive immediately past that building and you
will see our pool and hotel entrance.
Directions from Memphis, TN (North/West) to The Inn
- Take I-55 South to the town of Batesville.
- You will take the Hwy 6 East exit (also listed as the University
of Mississippi Exit).
- Continue on Hwy 6 East for approx. 25 miles until you come into Oxford.
Take the third Oxford exit listed as Old Taylor Road and the University
of Mississippi exit.

- Take I-40 W to Jackson, TN (128 miles)
- Take the second Jackson exit (Christmasville Road)
- Turn left onto Christmasville Road
- Follow that road into downtown Jackson where you will see signs for
Hwy 45 South
- Turn left onto Hwy 45 and continue approx 5-10 miles
- Veer right onto Hwy 18
- Continue on Hwy 18 out of the city of Jackson and through a few small
towns until you come to Boliver, TN
- Follow the signs that say Hwy 18 (there will be a right turn from
the town square, then a left a couple of miles later to remain on 18)
- Continue on Hwy 18 until you cross the MS state line where it becomes
Hwy 7
- Continue on Hwy 7 to the town of Holly Springs, MS.
- Follow the signs that say Hwy 7 (there will be a right turn from
the town square, then a left a couple of miles later to remain on Hwy
7)
- Follow Hwy 7 to the town of Oxford (approx. 30 miles).
- Take the University Ave exit (to the right) and turn right onto University
Avenue at the bottom of the ramp.
- When you come to the four-way stop just past the bridge on campus,
take a right onto Grove Loop.
- After the second building on your right, take another right onto
Alumni Drive. You will see our hotel as you come around the corner.
Directions from Tupelo, MS (East) to The Inn
- Take 78 West to Highway 9 (approximately 8-10 miles)- the Sherman/Oxford
exit.
- Turn left on Highway 9.
- Go 11 miles to Hwy 6/278.
- Turn right on Hwy 6 approximately 30 miles to Oxford.
- You will start seeing exit signs for Oxford.
- Take the fourth exit listed as Old Taylor Road and The University
of Mississippi.
- Take a right on Taylor Road.
- Travel through the roundabout counter clockwise from the 6 o'clock
to the 12 o'clock position.
- You will pass the Ole Miss baseball field and Department of Music,
before you come to a three-way stop. There you will take a left onto
University Avenue.
Immediately, you will cross over a bridge, then get into the right turn
lane to turn onto Grove Loop, at the four-way stop.
- We are behind the second building on the right. Just past the building,
take the right turn onto Alumni Drive and you will see the Hotel entrance.
