Meeting Place
The National Sedimentation Laboratory's Conference will be held in the E.F. Yerby Center Auditorium of the Continuing Education facilities on the beautiful campus of The University of Mississippi which is located in Oxford, Mississippi.

To get to the meeting place from the Downtown Inn and Suites hotel: if exiting the hotel onto North Lamar, turn LEFT onto North Lamar and then turn RIGHT onto Jefferson Ave (at the light). If exiting the Hotel onto Jefferson Ave., turn RIGHT onto Jefferson Ave. Go straight through the stoplight. At the bottom of the hill and at the stop sign, turn LEFTonto North 9th Street. Merge to the center lane at the next stoplight (Jackson and North 9th Street) in order to go straight down North 9th. You will then come to a stop sign (North 9th and Van Buren Ave.) Continue on down North 9th which will dead end at a stoplight at University Avenue. Turn RIGHT onto University Avenue and continue on down this road (heading WEST). You will go through one more stoplight and at the 3rd stop sign (which is after you cross the bridge), turn RIGHT. The next building on the Right is the E.F. Yerby Center. In order to park, you will need to pass by the front of the E.F. Yerby Center and the Inn at Ole Miss (which are connected by a breezeway). Take the next RIGHT (Alumni Drive) which is after the Inn at Ole Miss, then turn RIGHT again continuing past the hotel's check-in area and find a parking place in the Inn at Ole Miss parking lot. Be sure to display your parking pass on the dashboard of your car so you won't be given a ticket.

Conference Hotels
T he conference will be held on the University of Mississippi Campus. One of the conference hotels, The Inn at Ole Miss, is adjacent to the E. F. Yerby Center where the Conference will be held.

The other conference hotel is 3-5 miles from the conference meeting place at the Downtown Oxford Inn & Suites. The hotel is located in beautiful downtown Oxford, MS, and is within walking distance to the nationally renown Oxford Historical Square District. There are many shops and restaurants located in this section of the city. The hotel serves a deluxe continental breakfast buffet from 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m., daily. Hotel reservations may be made by phone (662)234-3031 or you may make them online. The hotel advises that their preferred method is by phone. When making your reservations, please advise them that you will be attending the "NSL 50th Celebration." Deadline to make your hotel resevations at the guaranteed government rate is August 1, 2008. Reservations made after this date are subject to a higher rate.

How to Get to Oxford     
By Air
Persons who plan to fly to the conference should book their flights to and from the Memphis, Tennessee, International Airport (MEM). The Memphis International Airport is approximately 75 miles (or 1 hour and 15 minutes drive) from Oxford. Rental cars are available in the Memphis terminal.

By Car                       
From Memphis, Tennessee: Take I-55 South to Exit 243A (Oxford; The University of Mississippi exit). This is Hwy 6/278 E. Travel on this road for approximately 22 miles to Oxford, MS.

You will know that you are entering Oxford when you begin passing a large Shell/Convenience Store (with a Baskin & Robbins in it) and the Nissan, Belk Ford/Toyota car lots. Beware that there is a traffic light at the intersection that is around the bend from the Waller Funeral Home. If you need anything from Wal-Mart, here is where you will turn on to Jackson Avenue.

To find the hotel with less turns, continue straight on MS6/US278 East. The 3rd exit from the Jackson Avenue stoplight is the Lamar Blvd./Hospital exit. Take this exit and then follow the "round-about" to the LEFT onto South Lamar. You should be going north, crossing over the bridge over the highway that you just exited from. Continue North on South Lamar, travel approximately 1 mile to the Oxford Square. ALL traffic travels to the RIGHT around the Square. You will need to merge onto the Square traveling to the right, but stay in the lanes nearest the Courthouse building. Go 1/2 way around the Square to North Lamar Blvd. Continue on North Lamar Blvd. to the first traffic light at Jefferson Avenue. The hotel is located on the Northeast corner of NORTH LAMAR and JEFFERSON AVE. To check in the hotel, go through the light and take the First Entrance to the RIGHT.

From the West and South
Take I-55 to Exit 243A Oxford, The University of Mississippi Exit. You should be on Highway 6/278 traveling East for approximately 22 miles until you reach Oxford. Refer to the paragraph right above this section for complete driving directions to the hotel.

Traveling from the East
Traveling from Tupelo continue WEST on 78 to the Sherman/Oxford exit which is also Highway 9. Stay on this road for about 10 miles and then turn right onto 76 at Pontotoc. 76 will change to 6/278 in approximately 9 miles but you don't have to worry as you do not have to take any more turns off of this road until you get to the South Lamar Exit in Oxford. You will exit to the right and turn Right onto South Lamar Blvd. Continue North on South Lamar. Approximately 1 1/2 - 2 miles down the road will be a stoplight at University Avenue. Continue through the stoplight and then you will come to the Oxford Square. ALL Traffic travels to the RIGHT. You will need to merge onto the square traveling to the right, but get into the center of the SQUARE. Go 1/2 way around the SQUARE to North Lamar Blvd. (Vehicles traveling on the Center of the SQUARE have the right-a-way. All others must yield to those traveling on the Center.) Continue on North Lamar Blvd to the next stoplight which is where the hotel is located which is the corner of NORTH LAMAR and JEFFERSON AVE. To check in the hotel, go through the light and take the First Entrance to the RIGHT.
