CALL FOR PAPERS

Due to the overwhelming interest in conference participation the deadline for
ABSTRACT SUBMISSIION
has been
extended to
Friday, March 7, 2008

The USDA Agricultural Research Service National Sedimentation Laboratory was established in Oxford, Mississippi in 1958. Initially, the work of the lab was focused on advancing the principles of sediment transport and deposition, but the mission has continuously expanded to include a wide range of research dealing with the impacts of agriculture on soil and water. Join us for this landmark symposium in which we will assess the state of science and the National Sedimentation Laboratory’s contributions. Participants in the meeting should be enabled to chart a bold and effective course for future work in the field.

You are invited to submit an abstract for an oral or poster presentation that addresses one or more of the conference themes. The deadline for abstract submission has been extended to Friday, March 7, 2008.

Conference Themes
Erosion and Sedimentation Research
        Physical Processes
Morphologic response in disturbed fluvial systems
        Source identification and fingerprinting
        Reservoir sedimentation
Transferability of flume research to field conditions
Acoustic technology for study of soils and sediments

Landscape effects of agricultural production systems
        Terrestrial and aquatic ecology
        Lake and stream water quality
        Quantifying ecological status
        Ecological rehabilitation

In addition to oral and poster presentations, authors with accepted abstracts will be encouraged to submit manuscripts for peer review and possible publication in a special issue of the new journal, Ecohydrology. Manuscripts must be prepared using guidelines furnished in notice of abstract acceptance.

All submitted manuscripts complying with these guidelines will be distributed at the conference on a proceedings CD-ROM.
